Aldags 7th victory in Dortmund

Together with Aussie Scott McGrory Rolf Aldag won his 7th 6-day victory in Dortmund (and his 9th in total). His first win was back in 1991 with Danny Clark (!). The two strong boys managed in the final to take a lap from their closest rivals, Risi – Gilmore and Kappes – Beikirch. Good to see 36 years Rolf Aldag still on the top, also on the track, and good indeed to see McGrory back in so fine conditions after his disease last winter.

Great evening for Risi – Gilmore

The Saturday night in the Westfalenhallen was the night of the mix-team Bruno Risi and Matthew Gilmore, brought together for this race because of the scratch of Kurt Betschart. They won both chases of the evening and thus placed themselves on the top of the overall halfway in the race. They are still followed close by Kappes – Beikirch and Aldag – McGrory, while the Dutch winners in Amsterdam Slippens – Stam seems to pay tribute for their efforts on their home-track: They are three laps down, and normally that means that they are out of question for the final victory in Dortmund.

Stand after the 3rd night in Dortmund:
1 Bruno Risi (SUI) – Matthew Gilmore (BEL), 193 p., 2 Andreas Kappes – Andreas Beikirch (GER), 184 p., 3 Rolf Aldag (GER) – Scott McGrory (AUS), 183 p., at 3 laps: 4 Robert Slippens – Danny Stam (NED), 115 p., at 5 laps: 5 Jimmi Madsen (DEN) – Thorsten Rund (GER), 56 p., 6 Christian Lademann – Lars Teutenberg (GER), 43 p., at 8 laps: 7 Guido Fulst – Robert Bartko (GER), 71 p., at 12 laps: 8 Stefan Löffler – Andreas Müller (GER), 57 p., 9 Ronny Lauke (GER) – Luke Roberts (AUS), 42 p., 10 Erik Weispfennig - Christian Grasmann (GER), 31 p., at 15 laps: 11 Marc Altmann – Leif Lampater (GER), 58 p., at 16 laps: 12 Franz Stocher (AUT) – Stefan Steinweg (GER), 22 p., at 17 laps: 13 Mikhail Ignatiev – Alexei Markov (RUS), 63 p., 14 Gerd Dörich – Frank Kowatschitsch (GER), 37 p., at 33 laps: 15 Heiko Szonn – Thorsten Wilhelms (GER), 19 p.

6-days of Dortmund, 28thOctober to 2nd November 2004
Hard racing 2nd night in Dortmund

Hard racing was on the program the 2nd night in Dortmund 6-days. And from the overall below you can see, who suffered the most. On top of the overall is Aldag – McGrory, one lap ahead of Kappes – Beikirch and Risi – Gilmore. Slippens – Stam are two laps down, due to the fact that they haven’t yet reached the first bonuslap (for 100 points). Under circumstances Madsen – Rund and Lademann – Teutenberg is still holding on, but for a team like Fulst – Bartko it can’t be satisfying to be 6th with at loss of 7 laps already after the 2nd day. But we have to note that Fulst neutralised during the evening (and so was also Heiko Szonn, who lost with his mate Wilhelms 9 laps during the 60 Minutes chase). The classement also showed, that being an Olympic Champion in Pointsrace does not guarantee you at top-ranking in the 6-days: Young Mikhail Ignatiev is together with countryman Markov 11 laps down after the 2nd day.
The 60 Minutes REWE chase was won by Aldag – McGrory ahead of Risi – Gilmore (in the same lap). Average-speed 53,4 Km. The second chase of the evening (166 laps = 33,2 Km) was won by Slippens – Stam with Madsen – Rund equal on laps.

Overall in Dortmund after the 2nd night:
1 Rolf Aldag (GER) – Scott McGrory (AUS), 124 p., at 1 lap: 2 Andreas Kappes – Andreas Beikirch (GER), 122 p., 3 Bruno Risi (SUI) – Matthew Gilmore (BEL), 113 p., at 2 laps: 4 Robert Slippens – Danny Stam (NED), 88 p., at 3 laps: 5 Jimmi Madsen (DEN) – Thorsten Rund (GER), 42 p., at 4 laps: 6 Christian Lademann – Lars Teutenberg (GER), 39 p., at 7 laps: 7 Guido Fulst – Robert Bartko (GER), 51 p., 8 Stefan Löffler – Andreas Müller (GER), 21 p., at 8 laps: 9 Erik Weispfennig - Christian Grasmann (GER), 21 p., at 9 laps: 10 Gerd Dörich – Frank Kowatschitsch (GER), 25 p., at 10 laps: 11 Marc Altmann – Leif Lampater (GER), 28 p., 12 Ronny Lauke (GER) – Luke Roberts (AUS), 15 p., 13 Franz Stocher (AUT) – Stefan Steinweg (GER), 11 p., at 11 laps: 14 Mikhail Ignatiev – Alexei Markov (RUS), 40 p., at 21 laps: 15 Heiko Szonn – Thorsten Wilhelms (GER), 5 p.
